THOROUGHFARE
ARCADIA
While a simply iconic and autonomous building may initially answer the most basic programmatic and representational project requirements, this proposal seeks to challenge the conventional notion of iconic architecture by prioritizing a deeply interconnected urban environment that can thrive by creating a meaningful space for the city.
Rather than isolating itself as a standalone statement, the design forgoes self-referential monumentalism in favor of an open, vibrant complex that actively engages with the city’s public domain. By anchoring the Karolina District urban space, the project invites community engagement and promotes accessibility. This approach creates welcoming spaces for visitors, encourages social interaction, and contributes to the economic and cultural vitality of the district.
The project unveils an integrated design that crafts a variegated continuum of vertical green spaces and urban courtyards. Stretching from lively thoroughfares to serene private winter gardens and terraces, this verdant expanse caters to diverse user experiences to foster a harmonious environment where the city’s energy coexists with intimate landscapes of domestic retreat.
